In addition to full-time degree programs or individual courses, some institutions of higher learning in the United States offer part-time blended courses that may be partially online and require on-campus attendance on occasion, known as “low-residency programs.”
Students enrolled in full-time online programs are not eligible for U.S. student visas; however, a student visa is required for short-term U.S. attendance for low residency programs. Students who attend a U.S. university for full-time course study and are also enrolled in online courses should consult with the university’s Designated School Official (DSO) in the International Student and Scholar Office to ensure visa compliance.
